S.R. Lal is a Malayalam writer born in Koliyakkodu, Thiruvananthapuram. A storyteller of rare warmth and range, he works across short fiction, novels, biography, and children's literature — bringing both thematic variety and emotional density to his stories, and carrying the changes of the times within them.

His children's book Kunjunniyude Yatrapusthakam won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2017. He has also received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and many others. He works as Assistant Editor at Grandhalokam, the monthly of the Kerala State Library Council.

തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിലെ കോലിയക്കോട്ടു ജനിച്ച എസ്.ആർ. ലാൽ കഥ, നോവൽ, ജീവചരിത്രം, ബാലസാഹിത്യം എന്നീ മേഖലകളിൽ ശ്രദ്ധേയനായ എഴുത്തുകാരനാണ്. കഥകളിൽ വിഷയവൈവിധ്യവും ഭാവസാന്ദ്രതയും ഒരേസമയം കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് സാധിക്കുന്നു.

കുഞ്ഞുണ്ണിയുടെ യാത്രാപുസ്തകം എന്ന കൃതിക്ക് 2017-ൽ കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമിയുടെ ബാല സാഹിത്യ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു. കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി ബഹുമതികൾ നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇപ്പോൾ കേരള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ലൈബ്രറി കൗൺസിലിന്റെ ഗ്രന്ഥാലോകം മാസികയിൽ അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് എഡിറ്ററായി ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നു.
